She may be pale, but what a champ she is proving to be. This is the third flush of blooms in about 6 weeks time.
The Bearable Lightness of Being Frosty Pink
Oh my gosh! She's beautiful!!!
Lovely Candy!! How old is your brug? You sure have the magic touch with plants!
BTW...many of the cuttings you gave me seem to be rooting. They are looking good! Thank you again!
I still think this one for blooming and smell, has it all over some of the newer hybrids, that don't bloom often and have hardly any smell.
Lovely!
I do like this one too. Its always the first, and the last to bloom.
Frosty will always be a favorite of mine. It's like old faithful. It blooms good and often.
I don't have Frosty anymore, but I've always liked the way she bloomed. Just so much room here and something had to go....a lot of somethings went to make room for newer models.
She is a true producer!! That must smell great!
Evening all! She is sure pretty, just went out and some more of the blossoms are opening......very white and pretty for a few hours until they color up. Mmmmmmmm, heavenly.
Margie, I think I got her last June about this time.....I know it wasn't a 5 gal, so most likely a 2-3 gal size from Yardbirds. She bloomed like this all last year too and seems to be carefree. That's what I'm looking for in any Brugs that live with me. Must stay in ground, must bloom prolifically, relatively bug free......they gotta take care of themselves and get along with everything else that lives here. :-)
The "Shades of Frosty."
Oh, Candy, she is beautiful!!! I've missed you!!! SLike
Did I mention I'm moving in with you???
My first was a frosty. Shes about 4/5 yrs old now. She dies back every year, but grows to about 18 ft tall and just as wide. Then i have a row of 4 that i started from huge branch cuttings about 3 years ago. They are in the ground and die back every year. They are almost guaranteed to bloom before the ones that i babied in the house over the winter.
Shes my kind of brug. If only i could find one in yellow like her. I'm finding im not much in to pink, but still hang on to her because of her prolific blooming. Not to mention shes pretty trampy around breeding time, lol.
Candy, I'm curious. You say that she's pretty carefree, but what do you feed your brugs? Thanks! Gretchen
I've heard so many here say they didn't like Frosty, but she looks beautiful to me, and to hear she is carefree makes her even better.
Beautiful, Healthy looking plant. I love the picture you call "shades of frosty".
Talking about Frosty...I just noticed it was being shown on the random pictures.....http://plantsdatabase.com/showimage/21500/
Can't seem to make it a hyperlink.....

Lilypon - you know you are more than welcome, just BYOT....bring your own tent!
Hiya Gretchen! When I say carefree I mean that with year-round gardening here in Northern California and just under 1,000 different plant varieties in my small garden, I can't keep anything that requires a lot of individual care. (The pocket gophers have diminished my plant list considerably in the last few weeks taking out about a dozen varieties of Eryngium and Campanulas. Despise the little buggers!)
I spread a liberal amount of commercially bagged manure over the entire garden twice a year, topdress with cocoa hulls twice a year, water potted plants and greenhouse collection with diluted fish emulsion every couple of weeks. I also feed my roses a typical systemic food/insecticide. If I think about it I sometimes feed the Brugs when I'm doing the fish emulsion rounds. My Brugs are all in the ground.
That's my normal routine. Just a few days ago I sprayed the whole garden with VF-11 (It took just 1 gal of VF-11 at 1oz to the gallon hose end sprayer). It is a foliar spray supposedly safe for everything that can't burn or be over applied. It was a sample 1 gal I received and I'll see how it works. Because I use a fairly unconventional mix of plants with very different requirements it will be interesting to see whether it can benefit them all.

Thanks Candy! Your soil must be in very good shape with all the compost you've used to amend it. Everything always looks fabulous!
Frotsy is a great bloomer. I really like her. She grows back from the ground very quickly to
Glad to know that too Donna, as I have three of them planted in my garden :) Gretchen
