Is reallly starting to put out leaves.
hilo beauty elephant ear
Sweet!! I love this one!
rylaff,
That is gorgeous. Is that actually from Hilo, HI, or is that just the name of it? Please keep me in mind when it has babies. I lived in Hilo for many years and buried my late husband there. Would love to have a little bit of Hilo with me.
I dont know why it is called Hilo. It certainly could be from HI. I will keep you in mind when it starts making babies.
I love this one but apparently it didn't love me! Maybe it just didn't like the cat. LOL
You know I don't think that one has a orgin? so I don't know... ask AAdict..

I had one of those last year, they can be a bit fussy to overwinter and I killed mine. I just got a new one from a good friend.
I had mine in the ground last year, it didn't come back after this winter. Not sure why, it was in a protected area.
Rylaff, you always post the neatest pictures.
Janet
I've killed a number of them
I get them just starting to grow well, winter comes and they never take wintering over in house as well as the other ones
I love it and will try it again someday
Hope mine will look as good as yours
I did take mine in over the winter. It didnt die, but didnt really grow. Thats okay. At least it survived.
I'm glad yours made it through winter. This one is really one of my favorites but I am a nut for any type of variegation. Mine were doing fine until my daughter's cat declared war on the tropical corner in the basement. LOL I'll have to have a better plan for this year. :)
I have a new one from Logee's. It is now outside in the shade, but is still "reaching" for sun. How much sunlight can this plant take?
Mine is growing under some xanthaxomas, so it is getting partial sun all day.
Pretty I love that one. Like everybody above that's one I lost over the winter it must be really hard to over winter. Any special tips to over wintering it?
rylaff...nice going! I love this ear!
mystic, my hilo from last year was left in the pot and I just took it to work and stuck it in a dark room. Watered maybe 3 times during the winter. I didn't know what I was doing, or even if it would work. When the weather warmed up I stuck it outside and watered. I'm finally seeing little leaves, and I've noticed it's making a good sized bulb. I was just lucky to get it to overwinter. I'd love to hear how it 'really' should be done.
