why some brug blooms have 5 points and some have 6 points? My frosties all had 5 points, and Isabella has 6. I've noticed that in some of the Isabella photos I've seen, many only had 5 points, and I thought the cultivar dictated the bloom shape, so now I'm confused. Anyone? Thanks!!! Gretchen
Will someone please tell me
Gretchen, many brugs have flowers with 5, six or even 7 points in one flush. Some hybrids tend to flowers with more than 5 points. Pink Favorite for instance or my own Charming. Right now, the double flowering Schneekrone has a flower with 9 points. It is a nice surprise from mother nature.
Thank you Monika! You solved the mystery for me. So I guess the more points, the more desirable. Wow, that must be some flower to have 9 points! If you've already posted a picture, I missed it, but will start looking. Thank you again!!! Gretchen
I was going to make a picture of it tonight but the batteries of my camera went dead. I will do it tomorrow.
Thanks!
Can't wait to see the picture of this beauty, Monika.
I would say that is a nice surprise Monika. Look forward to seeing the picture. Does Schneekrone have a meaning?
Beautiful, Monika! Thanks for posting the picture!!!
Amazing. I've never seen so many points (spurs) except on a picture I saw on the ABADS forums a long time ago. Wish I knew how far back that one was. It was really a wild looking bloom. Maybe Trish remembers. I had a bloom on Tragedy 2001 that had seven points and six was common on her. I can't find the one with seven points, but here is the six pointer. I think I saved this picture from here (Daves) and the originals left this earth with the computer they were in. Found a link to the seven points picture. http://davesgarden.com/brugcontest/viewentry.php?imageid=42
