She has not let me down. She blooms every day.
Lady margaret passiflora
WOW, I had never seen that colour before!
Beautiful. I bought one this year, but it was small. I hope the wait for bloom won't be too long. Sure could look at one like yours every day.
I love this one, Haven't been able to find this one yet.. it's beautiful.
HELP!!! I have Lady Margaret, Pura vita and P. Coccinea and my luck is no good with any red Passi..
I have 18 other Passiflora's that are doing awesome but any Passi that is red just is not doing worth are Darn! I have all the cuts you gave me doing well plus others cuts too. Everything is growing and blooming like mad except any 1 with red blooms. I'm lost and I must be missing something.
ANY INFO would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, JD
Rylaff, That is just gorgeous. You wouldn't by any chance, perhaps, maybe, just possibly be able to part with a little cutting of this one. I just fell in love again. My others would be so jealous of this one. PLMK if you can. I will try to find something that we can trade for this.

JDL, Lady M is very hard to root. I seldom get success even airlayering. If i could find rooting gel, I am airlayer an attached stem in a small cup of gel. no water or soil. That might do it.
I will attempt to root a cutting for you. will let you know.
Thank you, I will keep an eye out for you. Good luck. Keeping my fingers crossed.

If anyone is interested, Logee's sells P. Lady Margaret. Flicker, you are right that P. Lady Margaret is hard to root. I was able to get one to root using an Oasis Cube and rooting gel and a humidity dome. I sent that one to Tropicman. It can be done, but timing is important. She should be in a growth mode.
Flicker. I've had good luck cloning Lady Margaret cuttings that I think Clare sent me, maybe Don or rylaff sent them. My problem is something I'm doing wrong well after rooting. I must not have been clear above. I've only seen 5 red blooms this summer from lady M., P. Coccinea(sp), Vitafolia, and pura vita. Now any and all of my red Passiflora's(no matter which 1) just look like [deleted]. They're surrounded by many other passi's that are growing and blooming like mad. I just haven't been able to dial in what the heck the red passi's want/need. I've tried almost everything except moving them into the shade, they are almost all getting full sun. I have expiramented with different soil mixes and even 2 soiless media's.
CAN ANYONE give me some advice on growing these babies?
I'll post pictures ASAP of the different looking leaves as they all show signs of some problems. I'm at a total loss and want/need to take some measures to get these babies growing better and blooming again. I have every one of the red 1's planted beside other Passi's so I have another means of monitoring the enviroment they're in.
I need to make a list with pictures of some of my other Passiflora's as I am experiencing minor problems with a couple other's. When I say problems with the other's, I mean they aren't blooming LOL. They're growing well, just not excelling like the rest of my plant's. Sadly, I've spent almost the entire last 4-5 weeks out of town off and on so I maybe missing something obvious, I'm not leaving my gardens again anytime soon.
Please bear with me and my horrid spelling and grammar. We're still recovering from a major roadtrip to Fla. and every state in between. I've been so exhausted lately, I can't tell you the date or the day of the week yet. I do know I'm finally home again and it's officially summer so it's time to get things dialed in and flourishing asap.
Thanks all for your help! I need some bigtime.
JD
I have never raised coccinea, so I can't say.
Vitafolia blooms fall, winter, and spring in it's habitat. Here in z8b we get spring and fall from the vines in the ground. Winter is too cold, so the vine dies to the ground.
When the night temps warm up to the hi 70s, passies will quit setting buds.
Lady Margaret does well in the ground here. The first year I started with a small cutting from logees. Didn't see blooms until fall. The next year, she did much better--made a large vine and bloomed some in spring and LOTS in fall. I live on acid clay soil. Passiflora usually like slightly acid soil. They also like rose fertilizers. They need Potash. They seem to like epson salts occassionally in their water. They need a well drained area--but we are having torrential rains and my vines are huge.
In this forum I recommended a new passiflora book that is just coming out in English. I think it may give more specific soil recommendations for different kinds of passies. They come from all over the world--- and all kinds of growing situations.
What is good for one might kill another.
Pura vita is holding its own- but it is 2 yrs old and just a long 6 ft stem with leaves. Never bloomed.
The picture is last years vine.
Now--HOW do you root Lady Margaret?!?!?
Hi JD, I just have P. Mollissima and P. Lady Margaret. My P. Mollissima I grew from seed and hasn't flowered much for me yet. It is busy putting on growth, and I believe that that one likes to bloom in the cooler weather of the spring and fall. If you are growing P. Mollissima from me, it is likely in the same boat. I also sent you the P. Lady Margaret, but Flicker is right that it may be busy putting on growth rather than directing its energy toward flower production. It tends to bloom on the terminal ends that hang down. I notice that P. belotii also does this. I would worry too much about flower production as long as your vines look healthy otherwise. I have my P. Lady Margaret in a container, and it seems quite happy in regular potting soil. Most of my other Passifloras are planted in the sandy desert soil of California. It is well-draining, which I think, as Flicker said, is what they like.
Flicker, I rooted P. Lady Margaret using a rooting hormone, an Oasis cube, and a humidity dome.
Hey! Flicker passis don't set buds when the nights are in the 70's you mean the low for the day? We have that delta breeze here it was 90f today but by morning it will be 56f. That means I won't have to worry about shut down cool! T- Man ! This is your plant's California cousin( Blue Horizon) shot at 7:38 PM.
Move over, Monterey. You're gettin' company.
Next week the highs are in the 90s and lows the mid 70s. We will finally have nights in the 80s with days near 100. Humidity is always 85-100%. I live in a swamp.
The humidity here today was 19 %. It was also 94f . Must seem like 75 or 80 to you. When it gets hot here you don't even sweat. I drink water and am so cool. Tonight 57f.
Has any one had P. Mollissima to bloom? Mine is going on its second growing season and it still has not bloomed...What's wrong?....
So far as cuttings go I have 2 out of 6 that seem to have made it....

Dee, I grew mine from seeds started about two years ago. It is setting buds now for the first time. We had about two weeks of cool weather called "June Gloom" -- very cloudy, overcast and cool. This is when my P. Mollissima set buds. I had heard it likes cool weather to bloom, and now I believe it. We had a couple days of hot weather next, and unfortunately, my P. Mollissima dropped about half of its buds. I am hoping to see a flower before the rest drop. I will post a picture if I am able to.
Mine is a huge overgrown vine that has yet to flower. It's still early and I have hi hopes. I'll keep you posted.
