What I see?
Then kindly remind me the name of them!!!
Can you see...
Is it a crocosmia?
Looks like crocosmia to me, My orange and gold are blooming now, the tall red 'Lucifer' has yet to bloom this year.
Yes thats it ,Thanks, now how to they spread?,By seed or runners?
They make little baby bulbs around the mother bulb.
Oh! They have bulblets!!LOL!
Thanks Cal
Mine also reseed.
Wow, I like! I have some, but have jungle here from so much rain, will have to hunt for them. I KNOW they are in there, someplace.
Don't say that rain word too Loud!!!LOL!
That is beautiful!!! I need to look into getting some of that. Would do really well here! :) :) :)
Missie, I imagine it will do well for you. It grows likes crazy here.
It grows like crazy here in Mandeville, you will have no problem in Denham Springs. It looks like Tropicman has 'Lucifer' which is a larger leaf taller crocosmia, and the flowers are redder. I have that one, as well as the common smaller ones in orange and gold.
Do you have pics?
Mary those are just fab, thanks for sharing.
They are beautiful! Thank you! :)
They're so cute and dainty!!! I love them!!! Any chance of trading???
In Seattle I found that Crocosmia made wonderful bank holders....they clumped so well they held the dirt down! AND, no muss no fuss...bloomed well, spead like mad even after a bad winter. It is the one plant I saw every where when I travelled...Alaska, Southern Chile, Bolivia, islands in the S. Pacific. Croscosmia Montbretia is a world traveller!!!! I love it! Got more varieties when visiting Georgia this sping...can't wait for their blooms!
Tropicman,
I'm new at this. How do we trade? My email address...

THANK YOU!
Missie :~)
There is a really BIG need to add more crocosmias to the Plants Database. Out of 69 varieties, there are only pics of 3.
How about y'all add to the information?... there are NO orange photos, NO yellows, etc.
If I knew the cultivar names of the orange and yellow that I had, I would add them, but I am not sure which ones they are.
Will those grow in zone 5?
just gorgeous

nicerfarm
nicerfarm, we have a wonderful Plants Database (look for the link down on the right column http://plantsdatabase.com/) and I just looked up Crocosmia http://plantsdatabase.com/search.php?search_text=crocosmia&submit=Search.
Apparently they are not hardy in Zone 5 but you could dig them in the Fall just like any tender bulb, corm, etc. and replant in spring. I actually have some blooming that I planted in pots and brought inside for the winter (mostly because I was moving, not because of zone).
Does anyone know of a dark red crocosmia, more to the crimson side, no orange tone?
