Crocosmia in bloom

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

This color is so vivid that my older digital camera has trouble with the red. Guess I need to pull out my Sony 717 and get a pic of it.

Is this Lucifer? It is my favorite flower... I have dozens of Crocosmias from seed this year... they are so cute! I am hoping for some blooms on my older ones, though. I aquired a couple orange ones this year too. Such a beautiful flower!

I set the seeds in peat moss since around May, and they are coming up now. They, like Alliums, look just like onion grass. Between both, I have a garden full of onion grass! I cannot tell you the approximate percentage of seed success. Looks like most sprouted. I just kept it moist & in the sun. I am certain it will be a couple years until they bloom... take the bulbs!

i'm taking the bulbs. :-D how can i resist such a generous offer.

Here's a close-up of a bloom nearby my yard. Mine are so tiny compared to this one!
