Right-sized pot for this Plumeria?

Mount Hermon, LA(Zone 8b)

I've put my little plumerias in a larger-sized pot than those in which they were growing.

Is this pot sufficient for the size of the plumeria right now?

Thanks.

LSP, was it potbound when you transplanted it? If so, it should go into a pot slightly bigger than the one in which it was growing. That looks like a fairly large Plumeria so it should be fine in its new container. It is hard to tell if that is a three-gallon container or a five-gallon container, but either will work as long as there isn't too much unused soil at the bottom. The problem with unused soil at the bottom is that it stays wet because water isn't absorbed by the roots. That creates poor drainage which can lead to root rot, which Plumerias are particularly susceptible to. So, as long as you have excellent draining potting soil and nice big drainage holes and as long as it is not overpotted, it should be very happy.

Thanks Clare!

That pot is approximately three-gallons. I placed large, broken, terra cotta pieces in the pot's bottom to help drainage, and I hardly water the plumeria.

These are the pots the poor things have been living in, outside, for a year, pretty-much neglected. I don't know how they survived!

Edited to add:
The little black pots were quart-sized.

LSP, sounds like your plumies will be happy now. They can tolerate being rootbound and underwatered for quite some time; it's only when they are overpotted and overwatered that they sometimes run into trouble. Don't forget to fertilize often for flower production!
