Nancy's Revenge Alocasia

Lake Havasu City, AZ(Zone 10a)

I purchased a Nancy's Revenge Alocasia a couple of months ago. It was rooted but very tiny and never grew. In fact it lost the couple of leaves it had and new ones never developed properly. It was also infested with what I believe are Fungus gnats . This is the only plant that I had with this problem so I'm assuming the gnats came with the plant. I finally cut it back to the ground, threw out the old pot and soil and repotted it since the roots looked like they might be okay. Do you think that it might recover? I used SuperThrive on it when I repotted it.

Mine grew like crazy last summer and puts out lots of runners, but I lost it over the winter. Sharon, I had an ear in the greenhouse that lost all the top. I was sure it was dead, but I kept it moist and last week, it started putting up a tiny leaf. I don't know if I'll have the patience to wait for it to grow, but I wouldn't get in a hurry to toss the roots, you might be surprised. Have to say that I used the soil from a pot of ears and there must have been the makings of more ears in that soil because now I have them coming up all over the place and have no idea what kind they are. It must not take much for them to shoot a new plant. Good Luck.
