Did anyone catch the CBC interview with the guy who has analyzed core samples from alberta lakes going back 2000 years? He has determined that this is the wettest century in all of the last 2000 years. That droughts on the prairies often lasted 10 years and one lasted 45 years. He suggests that before 2030 (which is not so far off) that we will have a drought in Alberta of 10 years. There are notes in journals of fur traders in this area in 1850 or so that state the North Saskatewan will not support a canoe? This is scary.
drought cycles
That isn't good news .... but I believe it could happen. When you read the short histories of our Provinces, from when the explorers came and onwards, the drought cycles have certainly been documented. 10 years tho' certainly will make the dirty thirties look like a picnic. :(
Apparently the drought of the thirties was quite mild. Our current drought has been much more severe according to this study.
time for bed now and I was going to say it is later for you Pam but maybe we are the same time now since you still don't believe in Daylight Saving.
That's true ... I forget how much farming practices have changed to keep the land from ending up in the neighboring Provinces.
Nighty night Lynn. I think our time is the same right now.

DH said he read an article about the upcoming drought as well...they predicted it will go right up into our northern forests. Makes you wonder where our children should move to?
