My very first L'Amour bloom

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I took the pictures at various times during the day. Starting with the one on the upper left and going clockwise. I sure hope it will get darker, but I can't really see any change in today's pictures. If it didn't have the long and inflated calyx, it would look almost like Butterfly. Sure smells good. I'll change my tune if she gets darker. LOL!!

Wowzers, Shirley, it is a real beauty, so very pretty, I LOVE pink!!! And, I've got to have a L'Amour!!!!

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Ahhh ha! Beautiful! Congratulations Shirley! Did ya pollinate her?

Mesilla Park, NM

That is really beautiful.. congratulations..

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Yes, Shelly. My paint brush needed to be limbered up, so she got some. Now the wait to see if it took.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

What a beauty. If it needs a little trimming, I would love a start.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

I know you want her darker, but she is still a beauty.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

She looks a little darker this morning, but it is also cloudy outside and raining, so will just wait and see what happens when she flushes a bunch of blooms. She sure looks drab next to Kell and Susie's new one. OMG, what a beauty that one is. Can't wait for it to be on the market. I'm so happy for both Kell and Susie. This is a brug that comes along once in a lifetime. Who need Super Spot now....the US has it's own red thanks to these to gals.

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

It should get darker. Congrates!!! One of my favorites.

Riverside, CA(Zone 9b)

Brugie, my L'Amour just began it's first ever flush of blooms, too. Mine are about the same color as yours, but others experienced with this variety have assured me that subsequent flushes were deeper in color.

I am impressed with the horizontal posture of these blooms! None of my other Brugmansias look me in the eye as this one does. Your photo is lovely.

Vickey

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Vickey. I can only wait for more blooms and hope that things will change. It's good to know that others have had the same light blooms in the beginning. I have to remember that summer is just beginning and lots can happen to change everything.

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Very pretty. Nice picture too.

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

Brugie that is gorgeous, I have been skulking around just admiring everybody's great flowers!

I know you are enjoying this and it makes all the waiting worthwhile.

I am of course still waiting, but I am getting hopeful that I will still see one in person before the end of the summer.

Great photo

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Alice, come on down. By the middle of July I should have a lot of them blooming.

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Brugie, great shots of your L'Amour. I don't know how to do what you did getting 4 shots in one. I don't have LA but after seeing yours wish I did. Donna

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Beautiful, Shirley! I love it!

Very pretty Shirley.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Its is very pretty. The color will be darker in the summer. She always did it for me.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks everyone. Donna, I use Irfanview, a small and free download from the net, and do two pictures at a time as a panorama view. Put the two of them together vertically in the same program and save them. It is easy...just something you have to try a couple of times.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

L'Amour is beautiful and I do believe that the color will darken for you. It is one of my favorites, along with many others . . lol

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

Wow, I have this one but have not seen it bloom yet. Cant wait!!!

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

Thanks for the invite brugie I really wish I could take you up on it.

Just don't think I can make 2 trips to Iowa in one year!

I sure am looking forward to the next round-up though and being able to get to know everybody a little better.

Milo, IA(Zone 5a)

Shirley: That second pic is beautifully Pink.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Deb. It never did get any darker. My Butterfly is darker now than L'Amour got. With our cool weather, I'm not going to judge it yet. I'm sure that when it heats up, I'll see darker blooms. I'm wishing really hard in hopes that it will turn red like Kell's new one. Think I have a chance? LOL!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

LOL Best of luck, Shirley. We'd all like to have one to turn red like Kell's new one.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)
