I am a first time brug grower, and yesterday my brug had over 40 blooms opened. I am so EXCITED!! Anyway, the spent blooms fall off, and I'm wondering if the seed pods form where the"husk" or whatever it's called, is left on the plant. So far, I haven't seen anything that looks like seed pods, and the first bloom fell off at the end of May. Any information would be appreciated.
seed pods?
Good to have you here, LGW728, but I'm a newbie. I do think that you will know it when you have a seed pod (according to the posts/photos I've seen), the seed pods are totally different from the blossoms, I think, and I don't have a clue where they originate. WOW, forty blooms, how exciting!!! Glad to have you join us!!!!!! SherryLike
If you only have one brug, you won't get seed pods. It takes two different kinds of brugs to pollinate and produce seed pods and most of the time, you have to pollinate by hand. An arborea brug can be self pollinating, but it doesn't like hot climates and chances are good that yours isn't an arborea. To answer your question, if you did have a successful cross, it would form a pod where the calyx (husk) falls off. I'll bet it was a beautiful sight with 40 blooms.
I bet so also! 40 blooms!
