Another new seedling.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

It is already pretty yellow! Another one from Susie!

Pretty, pretty, pretty!!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I will have to see if it holds a deep yellow and if it goes all the up the corolla. I had one last year but it has not rebloomed yet to compare. I would love a deep true yellow aurea.

This one has what I consider are suaveolens buds though. They do not look like aurea buds to me. Is this true Monika?

Sure is a nice fat bud!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

The calyx opening looks aurea to me. The buds look somewhat like Butterfly buds. Been so long, I can't remember though. Hope it is a beauty.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Well I could be totally wrong here, but when I see buds that look like these I think Aurea. They are pointed and have shallow ridges up the sides.

What a surprise today. The new seedling had vivid yellow flowers but the oldest one had a dark pink splotch. Then by the end of the day the yellow color had faded to off white.

All I could say is OH NO ADP! LOL

Kell: Are these from seeds started last winter? They are looking awesome!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Maybe it's a marble. Bet you have some color this morning, don't you?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Gretchen, this is one I grew last summer that did not flower.

Brugie, this one is not growing at home but at a friends. I have mine spread out over 3 places! It is one I did not pot up so it is in 2 gallon. A 4 foot alley tree, very cute!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

You better check on this one. I can't imagine it having that color on it and turning white. It must be red by now....LOL! Wouldn't you kick yourself if it did turn a really dark color and you missed it?

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Im keeping my fingers tightly crossed here!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Kell, what color has it now? It should be pink.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Need a photo update Kell. Looks interesting.

Had a feeling it was somewhere else ... there were no other flowers in the background.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I will get one later and post it when I get home! I am hoping it will not fizzle out to a light pink. You know I moved it from full sun to full shade about 16 hours before it turned from bright yellow to off white. I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

It might change from white to pink. Almost all flowers have the same color before they start to unfold. Some are real green, others are green/yellow.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh shucks, I went in today to check and it had turned light pink!

I started a new thread to discuss my dismay at another Frosty look alike.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Unbelievable change in one day. I am thrilled for you!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

WOW!!!

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Double WOW!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Remember when I wrote this in an above post: "It must be red by now....LOL! Wouldn't you kick yourself if it did turn a really dark color and you missed it?"

It was pretty easy to see that it was going to be dark, but I sure didn't expect RED.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

It is much darker than I thought it would be too! Way to go Kell!

Brown City, MI(Zone 5a)

Wow, what a beauty. I've been reading this thread like a good mystery book. The end of the book was certainly a good one.

Is this from a cross? Love to know what cross created this one!

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

ACK!!!!!! That isn't light pink Kell! WOW oh WOW! Dang I've been away for the week and come back to see this! Wooooho!!!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Brinda, you and I being away, you on vacation and me sick, got a great surprise seeing Kell and Suzie's beautiful new Brug when we returned. Maybe we need to go away more often if they're going to come up with such pretty ones while we're away but I prefer the vacation to the hospital stay. I know it'll be more fun.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Ada, I didn't know you had been sick and in the hospital. I hope you are feeling much better and that it wasn't anything serious. Take care of yourself. There is a lot of summer yet to enjoy. Ignore the fact that it is a lot of work too. LOL!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Shirley, I'm doing much better. Now if I can just get caught up with all the things that needs to be done here. LOL

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

I hope, you feel better Ada. I didnt know either, that you have been hospitalized. Take good care of yourself and dont work to hard!

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Ada....I'm happy to hear you're feeling better! And I'm with you, I would agree to go away more often if it would help everyone get beautiful new blooms! LOL But this time I want to go on vacation too!!! I've been away working (trying to sell a business) and not having ANY fun at all!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Well, Brinda, I think we both need a vacation. LOL I'm so upset about some of my little seedlings. It rained so much while I was sick and some of them didn't make it from being too wet and the frogs are getting in my pots and pushing the soil out to bury themselves. It's been a constant fight this year with the toads or frogs pushing the soil out of pots. I dumped a plant out of a pot to plant and there was a frog in the bottom of the pot. I handed my sister a plant to take home one day and a frog jumped out of it on her arm. Saturday night one of the dogs was after something evidently and turned over several of my Brugs sitting under a tree and broke them off to about six inches and I had some tomato plants sitting beside them and she tore them all to pieces. They aren't worth planting. I don't know what she was after maybe a snake. We have two black snakes that crawl around here often and if it gets close to one of the dogs, I go pick it up with a shovel and carry it to where they can't get to it. I don't want them to kill the snakes.

Thank you, Monika.

Ada,

I'm very sorry to hear that you have been sick and in the hospital. I sure hope that you don't have any lingering effects of your illness. Take Care of Yourself!

We've had a big increase in the snake population this year, we're seeing them everywhere. Lot's of frogs too, but I sure wouldn't want them jumping out of pots at me.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Holy cow, that would give me heart failure for sure.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

I've gotten used to it now. I've never seen so many of them and they're doing a number on my potted plants burying themselves and I don't know what to do about them. You'd think the two black snakes would keep down the population of them. The bad thing about them is when they're burried down in the pots and you do see them, all you is a small bit of their face and they look like a snake looking at you. LOL It really scares you when you pick up a plant at dark to move it and it jumps against your hand or arm. It scares the P out of you. You don't know if it's a snake or frog/toad. LOL I've lost some of my small seedlings because of them. I can't put them all up high on something.

Brown City, MI(Zone 5a)

Ada,

I've got lots of snakes I'd like to send your way to help you with that Frog population.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

No, thank you, TC. LOL I don't mind these two black snakes. I know they're harmless except for aggrevating the dogs but two is enough. If they don't get busy with these frog/toads, I'll going to fire them for not doing their job. LOL
