What a wonderful plant and a great photo!
We have a native Aristolochia here in Missouri, but the blooms are usually 20 to 40 feet up in the trees.
Is yours a native there in Florida? I love the netted leaves and the flower is so interesting.
Thanks for posting it.

I got the plant from PaintedLady at a Georgia RU/Swap. I just love it! The vines are only about 20 inches long at the very most, it's a tiny thing! Research offers little clue as to the nativity of this plant. All I have found so far is that it is 'tropical'.
PaintedLady also says she has great luck with fresh seeds but no luck at all with older seeds. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for the seedpods!

Thanks for your reply and good luck with the seeds!

Stacey, I am so excited!
One of the seeds sprouted and I waited to make sure it is the aristolochia, and it is!!!! Thanks again for the seeds, and be patient if you plant some for yourself.
Merry Christmas!

That's wonderful news!! I'm so glad you've got one up. When did you plant the seeds? I have tons of seeds that I might actually do something with this year. DH just found a table advertised at BigLots that has a 3 outlet power strip on it. He wants it for seedlings, etc. Can't argue with that can you? LOL Now I only have to figure out keeping the cat away. He loves to sleep in pots!

Merry Christmas to you too!

Stacey

Will you take a picture of the seedling for the PDB?

I will try to let it get a bit bigger and take a pic, yes.
I sowed the seeds as soon as I got them...soaked them a few hours first, but I don't think that mattered. It was about 2 months at temps ranging from 40 to 85 degrees, part shade, plastic over the pot, before the one sprouted. I am hoping some more might sprout later on.
Does your DH like plants? Mine could care less pretty much, although he indulges my weakness for them fairly well. He loves fresh tomatoes, and that is about it.

Oh, and you only have one cat???/
We have 5...3 inside and 2 outside.
Here is the youngest one:
