I'm thinking of trying some of the oriental rose heart or green heart radishes this fall. To be honest, I've never grown radishes in the fall (or these varieties) so I'm curious to know how to store them...fridge? or....?
Radishes in the fall?
Aren't both of those considered "spring" radishes? That doesn't mean you can't grow them in the Fall but just means they are different than "Winter" radishes.
Spring radishes will last only about 3-4 weeks in the fridge (with high humidity).
Winter radishes will easily store in the ground a bit long if mulched.
Wonder if you can store Spring radishes in boxes of sand like people used to do (or still do) with carrots and the like?
I had several spring radishes bolt early last year and reseed. I had an amazing fall radish crop . Don't know if I could ever duplicate that though.
If anyone forgot to lock their cars they had radishes.
but don't anything about the varieties you are talking about.
With the Japanese and Chinese radishes one really has to follow the recommended planting times for individual varieties or they will bolt.
