Hi....Floridian's big sister asking her firs question (yeah)....I hav 6 Lily of the Nile around my grotto-style swimming pool. The plants are doing great. They have @ 24" stalks, with a multiple flower/bloom on the top of each stalk. Flowers are finally drying up. Most of the plants have 1-2 new stalks coming up. How do I prune the old flower off of the stalk? Just the entire flower "head" or do I cut the stalk off down at the base, in the green leaves? Pretty dumb...my sister says "invasive plant", in Florida....but they sure look great round my stone pool. Never been without a bloom, for months...but thanks for the info about pruning. Dallasdiva
Liiy of the Nile
Cut it all the way to the base. Some people save seed but they multiply so quickly here that I have never bothered.
Thank-you so much.
