I have had my first flowers on murcuja this year. Everything was growing well...until the arrival of these horrible small shiny black /yellow stripe beetles. All of the leaves are gone. It seems the species vines with tender leaves are always delicious to something.
I tried thuricide and it did nothing to the bugs at all. Dish soap got rid of a few.
Any suggestions.
passiflora murcuja
Sounds like Colorado beetles...
Thanks for the suggestion, cinemike, but there is only one yellow stripe on each side. The black is very shiny.
I get those Cucumber beetles too, chomping away on my Brugmansias. I just pick them off and step on them.
Ortho home defense in the gallon sprayer. Turn it to mist and say goodbye.Great on ants too.
Johanna, that is really pretty. To bad those darned ole bugs are destroying it.... The web worms have just about eaten my poor Tricificate, it really looks pitiful. I spray and spray but with the rain it is not doing any good. Sure wish it would clear up a bit....
:o)
