Pineapple lily

Gilmer, TX

Hope this is the right forum for my question. I have some pineapple lilies and was researching where to place them and if they could be planted in the ground here, zone 8a. My research has me more confused than ever. Some sights say they are hardy down to zone 7, some say hardy only to zone 9. I like to plant everything out that I can, way too much stuff that has to stay in pots. They wintered in an unheated GH and are now back bigger and better. Would appreciate help from anyone who has experience or knowledge of the hardiness zone for this plant. Thanks, Pam

hi Pam... am trying Pineapple Lily [Eucomis] for the 1st time, bought them on ebay... i would not know what to tell u about hardiness. here is what i found online http://www.gaygardener.com/gardenspot/bulbs025.phtml hth

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

catlady, you can even grow them here in zone 5b, but you have to dig up the bulbs in the fall, and store over-winter. I think you are safe where you are.
