OK, what are you feeding it? I think either Root or Calla has a contest going. Any hints greatly appreciated.

Been mixing equal amounts of 46-00-00 nitrogen.00-46-00 potassium,00-00-60 of potash nitrate, scratch the soil about 6 inches from the stem sprinkle a little and work it in the soil ,every 2 weeks, water in real good, and full sun!

Tropicman,
I had the red spire last year, as well as plain green ones and Royal Thai. I don't quite understand your question as they all had big leaves ~ guess I should have compared them to each other.

Brugie may have a better answer to your question than I .
She is quite knowledgable about Castor Beans and always very gracious to answer your questions.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

TlC,some have even bigger leaves, like this one,the other varieites I grow are only half this size.

Oh, my! Don't believe any of mine got that big. Are you fertilizing?

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Well, I'm goin' break out the super-duper fertilizer and get my puny little Castor Bean plant into 1st gear!!

Hey Tropicman - Look's like your Castor Bean tree is very fond of your Passionflower vine!

Crestview, FL(Zone 7b)

I tried growing one of these... didn't do so good so I couldn't see all the hoopla about them.. guess I'm going to have to give it a try again...

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

I have a few, but they are nowhere near that size.

Yes I fertilze pretty regularly, but here this week, has rained everyday,so mother nature has been doing it for me,but then again she has also broke my bananas in half, ripped there leaves to shreds,up rooted my brugs, put holes in every big leaf plant I have, and rotted some of thetubers that I had planted, enoughso the pill bugs finish them off!But I'm still wearing my happy face!!:)
