Mine came back from last year growing a green sport instead..so...

Sunset and Maya are the same variety.

I think the Sunset & Maya being the same is still up for debate. I haven't seen anywhere where it's been proven they are one in the same. Alice has been growing all of them and thinks they are all different. I'm pretty sure the one I have is Sunset. It's a good grower and pretty plant.

If your picture is Sunset, it definitely blooms different from Maya. My maya blooms are a pale peach in color. I love the blooms from Sunset. Gorgeous color. Thanks Sue.

Is Maya variegated??? I had one, but lost it, the only brug I've lost.
Maya is one that I really want to replace!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Yes, it is variegated. For me, it is hard to root. Most people don't have any trouble with it.

I had Sunset last year, and it was vigorous and grew into a nice tree. I tried to overwinter it under piles of compost/mulch, but it didn't. It shows up nicely in the garden.

Gosh! lol I thought sunset was tropical sunset. lol I have to go look for varigation on mine. I got it from you Sue. Any idea on the parents?

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Shirley, in your opinion, which is the prettiest, easiest variegated brug to grow??? Since I killed my Maya, maybe I should try another one, ya think-??

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Ok, mine IS tropical sunset. Sorry for the above post.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I've had three different variegated brugs. Peaches & Cream, Maya, and White Suaveolens Variegata. Of the three, Maya is the best bloomer, but the blooms on the last one are kind of cute. The mites did like the last one best. It took 18 months from a cutting for P&C to bloom and I had given it away a couple of months before it happened, so I didn't see the bloom. I guess Maya would win if I could only have one.

Well, Shirley, I got Maya in the first place because I loved that one; so, I'll get another and see if I have better luck this time. Thanks!!! I appreciate your reply!!!!! SherryLike

For Foliage,I like the Snowbank best,shoot I like all 3 I have.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Heck, I forgot I have snowbank, but it would be about the last brug I would buy if I were purchasing. It doesn't do well in sun. This year I have mine in full dappled shade.

Root, which variegated do you like best, and, or, which is easiest to grow? I realize my zone might make a difference. I really love variegated plants...

One thing is certain Poppysue. Those flowers pictured above
sure aren't Maya.

This is the same plant with it's first blooms just open. It looks a lot like Maya here, doesn't it? The flowers darken after a couple of days. I don't have Maya so I can't compare side by side. I have Snowbank but it didn't winter over too well. One stem has died but there's another that has some life left. Maybe it will perk back up.
