I am reading where this is only hardy to 9 and only hardy to 7b. does anyone live in 7b or 8a and have one of these? I planted mine and I wanted to know if I made a boo-boo. the coldest temp we had was 25 which is cold. I saw 7b on agristarts, and 9a on several sites.... but Alocasia x amazonica, cuculata will come back in zone 8a. but agristarts says 9. but all of the common xanthosoma are suppose to be hardy to 7b.
any help will do me good...
Xanthosoma robusta
7b. Mulch heavily. Does the ground freeze? Forget Amazonica, they die if you look at them wrong. Don''t take Agristarts for gospel, they're a great company, but they didn't know some things I thought they would.

I don't know if the ground freezes in 7b? it doesn't here. I live in 8a. They don't die if you look at them wrong. you have to wink and blow them a kiss at them three times a day.
in order for them to live... you just did it wrong. try again....
They don't pup that much, well mine don't. but I have never had a problem with them falling over dead... I had three I dried out over the winter and they came back. for some reason that is one of those plants were if I see it in the store I have to buy one... bad problem I have.

Amazonica doesn't like cool temps let alone freezing. I've been told by someone who knows that if it gets below 55 degrees, it can go dormant and in some cases can take two years to come out of it. I would not leave this one outside during the colder months. Otherwise, I find Amazonica easy to grow. I have mine in a pot and have had her nearly three years now. I feed Peters 20-20-20 every couple of weeks and keep it in dappled shade. Too much sun and the leaves burn on this one.
well it got down to 25 this year and mine came right up. the north wind was blocked. year before last the lady that I got mine from that spring came up...I will have to go buy there to see if they poped up ...
