I am new to gardening, and was wondering if there are any veggies that will grow in containers on a shaded porch. I think it would be so rewarding to be able to eat veggies that I've grown, but I've been repeatedly told that veggies and shade don't mix. I have very little sun, even in my back yard.
Its not a problem if I can't have this, I just wanted to know if it's possible.

Shade veggies
Thanks for asking this question Jennifer. I don't have a place in the sun where I can put a vegetable garden (it would either be in the front yard, where it would get raided, and not exactly my idea of good landscaping, or smack in the middle of our backyard, where we WANT a lawn. The only place I have left is this shaded area way in the back. I do plant tomatoes and cukes on the side of my house, but that is all I have room for, sun wise.
I'm hoping someone will come up with something for both of us. :)
Well, I did a google search and came up with this:

I typed in: Shade Vegetables
in the google search. Try it, there are many more. Most of them do, however mention that most vegetables require sun. You can grow some in the shade, but most won't do quite as well.
