Hi, here are fun & easy to follow instructions on how to build an inexpensive shade house for your plants that will stimulate growth as the sun passes in an East to West direction. Your foliage will become more attractive and never get burned, you will also have to water the plant less often, allowing more of a safety margin for wilting. Most plants do well under this amount of light, but you can adjust the spaces of the boards further apart for more sunlight or closer together for less sunlight. But I reccomend the 50/50 method described, its pretty foolproof. I've had mine for over a year now, I only made it 4 foot tall and my fast growing elephant ears are stimulated by the "spotty" sunlight and quickly outgrow the shadehouse.
Disco INFERNO? Try Shadehouse for brown thumbs.
Interesting. Might be usefull there but maybe not so usefull here in Finland. Our summers might be sunny and hot sometimes and leaves of plants might burn sometimes but it's rare if you dont keep them in greenhouse.
Hey that's a great idea A.A.
I wonder if using small square lattice would give the same effect as the slat boards?
I think I will try that for a space just for my begonia's.
That would work. But not the big square ones.
Thanks AA.
Just a note..the Tigrina plant you so kindly helped me with has a new leaf! Thanks a lot....now it has 2 leaves, lol
Its growing too slow, give it a direct blast of sunlight for about an hour a day. Its safe, I've kept them in full sun before.
Thanks, I will do it! Poor thing probable thinks I'm trying to kill it.lol
