I just got home & my purple Iocroma took some steroids while I was gone! It's blocking the path to my office. Can I take cuttings like a brug? I don't have a digger available.
HELP! HUGE IOCROMA
Hey Girl!!! How was your trip?
I don't know much about Iochroma, but with it being related to brugs....why not give it a try? I know Tracey grows them, and I think Susie does too! Hopefully they will be along soon!
Hey Brin, did you see P's innergy? I'm so proud of her. My favorite saying on the music note dog tag is "Sing Your Heart Out....As if No One's Listening"
I hate to say it... but Arkansaw is not my favorite vacationing spot. I asked the concierge at the hotel if he could suggest a nursery we might visit & he seemed rather perplexed by the question. Back to work......
LOL Bambi...I havent seen P's innergy...I can't get into my email! We got tons of rain so I'm unable to do the 'dial-up' thing on AOL. It should be dried out by tomorrow! I'm excited to see it!
geez....edited since it looked like I was drunk when I typed all of this! LOL

Bambi, you can't blame Arkansas for that! Ask any non-gardener where a good nursery is, and you'll get the same blank stare! Good luck rooting your Iocroma, I don't know anything about it either, maybe the ones who have it will come along soon.
Glad you had a safe trip bambi, Man-0-man, I gotta see this Iocroma. Go get yer digi camera before ya start chopping on it =))

The cuttings should root. Side branches and tip cuttings seem to root easiest. Treat them like brug cuttings, I use vermiculite and a rooting hormone.
Scooter - here's her Iocroma, posted a week or so ago:

Root them the way Susie said, strip them down to all but the smallest leaves, and cut at a node. You can cut them very hard to help keep them in check, it won't bother them at all.
I've got to trim my Iocromas. They are sprawled out everywhere.
I thought were small plants.
Now I gotta get me some !!!
Can always find room for another plant.
Thanks everyone. I'm a bit nervous (I've never taken cuttings of anything). I'll post the before & after photos.
b2b - I know the feeling. The first time I divided my hostas, I had my neighbor come over and help me. She dug them out, took a sharp butcher knife and started carving away. I was sure she'd kill them. NOPE! They did just fine!
