Qestionable Datura

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

Ok this one has been bothering me, I know Im gonna have to wait for a bloom to actually open but I gotta try. LOL
This was purchased as a Datura and several of you said it looks like a brug. Either way I would be very happy.
The buds started out pointing up and now they are going sideways and getting bigger of course(thank you God). Heres a pic of a bud.

Very nice plant. Cute doggie also.

Its suaveolens variegata..............brugmansia, not a datura. The flowers will be white with a kind of wrinkled effect.
:-)

Interesting, Thank you Eclipse. I guess theres a grower out there who better get thier plants straight, I would assume they are going to loose some money selling this as a Datura.

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

Okay, obviously Im a first timer here but the buds are now about an inch long, looking good and varigated too. I thought that was neat, now, "about" how long until they might be big enough to start blooming, Im trying to figure if they are going to bloom while Im in Florida or will be nice and wait till I get back.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Here is my white suav. variegata. I'm not totally sure this is what you have. Your leaves don't look as waffled or as dark. I'm wondering if you have Maya. Guess it is a waiting game until blooms tell the story. Won't be the first time I've been wrong. LOL!

Drav,

Looks like it's going to be beautiful either way. Don't you just love a bargain!?

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

Oh for Pete's sake I cant believe I did that and whats worse I cant remember what my response was supposed to be. LOL

I think its going to be beutiful too, its just so hard to wait and keeping the squirlls at bay lately seems to be harder than previous years.

Blooms are just starting to drop. This is too exciting. I hope they bloom before I leave on Sunday. At least one(crossing fingers).

It is so common for uninformed/uneducated sellers to sell Daturas as Brugmansias.. but not as common for them to call a Brugmansia a Datura. You got yourself a deal there.. and a variegated one as well.. Lucky! You should go back to where you purchased the plant and educate the person as to the difference.

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

I really should MzMunchken, and the funny thing is I asked them if they sold brugs at all, they said they had them last year and no one would buy them. Im going to wait and take pics and take those up to them to show what they sold me. Not complaining at all very tickled about this. Love a deal. I need to see if they have any of them left or brought more in to sell, who knows what I could get. LOL

Social Circle, GA(Zone 8a)

WAIT! Lemme go pick one up first.....oh, MD.....

Yazoo City, MS(Zone 7b)

Janet! Didn't know you were a brug newbie too! The daylilies are taking up most of my yard, but I couldn't help falling for brugs....gotta buy more land! lol

I love hand pictures! gives perspective of size.
You are gonna be bloomin soon!

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

Oh yes definate brug newbie, LOL I have two that made it from a trade earlier this year, a Frosty Pink and Charles Grimaldi and they are huge, especialy compared to the little babies they were when I first got them. I need to take pics and post them but no buds on those yet.
I went and looked at this one this morning and they are out so much further than they were yesterday. Im crossing my fingers because Im going on vacation on Saturday and I desperatly want to see these blooms before I go. The blooms right now are varigated just like the leaves, they are dark green and a really light green and very pretty so far.

Kyle was right. Looks like Suav. Variegata. Your blooms look pretty large. Too bad you missed the show. Next one will be better anyway. LOL!
