Hardy Water Lilies zone 9/10

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Which ones do well in Florida's extreme heat? I know that it must be a select few since I had many blooms burn, on their first day open, when we had temps over 100 for a couple of weeks last summer.

I have good luck with Gonnere, aka Snowball. Chromatella does very well here and so does Hollandia. Heat doesn't get much more extreme than what we have. ;-(

I forgot, also Aurora does very well.

Thank you for the information Judyb! :)

My Koi have uprooted my water lillies.....Yikes!

The Koi are about 12 inches long now, and this was my first two water lillies. I have ordered more, and have put a nylon netting around the pot, that reached almost to the water surface. Will this keep the fish from uprooting?

I was so disappointed. I have watched the lily pads reach the surface and start to get bigger, and then Bam.....I come home from work and they are all floating in pieces. Roots and all......

Any suggestions?

If your pond is big enough jtspeaks try to net off the area that the water lilies are in. Koi and water lilies usually don't get along well. I have the smaller fancy gold fish in my ponds but I have read that some will feed their Koi lettuce often so that they aren't as tempted by the more costly greens in your pond.
