What a treat I found!
I thought I'd lost the seed packets of the Brugs ShirleyMD had sent me (or thrown them away, empty).
Was doing Spring cleaning and found them tucked in a corner of the built in hutch/shelves in the dining room tonight!
The Isabella's I refer to say: "Isabella" x ?, Hybridizer unknown
The ones I referred to as Karyn Riggs say: "Suavenloens x ? white, hybridized by Karyn Riggs, "Crested Chick"
I have one more that didn't germinate, but have extra of the seeds, so will give it one more try, and they say:
"Rosamond" x "L'amour", Hybridizer unknown but probably Tig or Calla Lily.
So now that "dumb bell" me now knows what all this means, thanks to you guys, it was probably good timing to find these extra seeds and get some more started.
Can I start Brug seed indoors (in my sunroom) this time of the year?
I SHOULD CLEAN MORE OFTEN! YES!
Well, gonna go ahead and soak these and plant them, keep them indoors most of the time, of course, and all winter, and see what I get. Won't hurt, considering I'd forgotten I'd not used them all, and thought I'd mistakenly thrown away the packets they came in.
Promise, I promise to label them properly this time, as well as keep these packets in safe keeping, in case I need them later.
Thank you Brugie for the email the other day. I appreciated it!
You are welcome Karrie. Glad you didn't take it wrong. Now, get out those tags and markers and be ready for those babies to grow. LOL!
Karrie: Lucky you! I hope you have some luck with those seeds. Of all I planted, I unfortunately had 0% germination with that cross. Good luck!!! Gretchen :)
Gretchen, which cross? The Rosamond x L'amour? I got the Suave x from C.C. to germinate (have 3, maybe 4) and I got the Isabella x to germinate (got 1, maybe 2 - one of them I think might be the Sauve x fromm C.C., mismarked, thus these weird numbers). The Rosamond x L'amour I didn't succeed in last time, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed on that one.
Rosamond X L'Amour did not germinate for me. I was very hopeful to get a seedling from that cross, but it was not meant to be for me :( Out of 110 seeds total, I ended up with 80+ seedlings, so that wasn't too bad...
Again, good luck! Keep us posted on the progress :)
Well, I won't get my hopes up too high then! :) There's only a few of them left, that I started soaking last night.
I think I have this "Rosamond" x "L'amour", about to sprout in the soak it's in - it's looking like it. I nicked them and soaked them, and it looks like some "white" poking out of the crust. I'm going to leave them in there for another day and then probably put them in soil.
