What kind of ginger?

Lake Placid, FL(Zone 9b)

It looks like some type of Costus, but the blooms look too short for spicatus. I know nothing about gingers, so I am lost!

It grows 4-6' tall; the taller ones appear to be stretching toward the sunlight.

It roots from stem cuttings.

It multiplies quickly and new shoots are purple/red.

The blooms may appear red on the monitor, but they are really more orange than red.

hmmm, my guess is maybe Costus Pulverulentus.
2nd guess is Costus Sp. 'French Kiss'. Hard one to call!

does it look like this? http://davesgarden.com/t/348286/

I go with JustmeLisa...Costus sp. French Kiss. Do you know the flowers are edible and taste great in salads?
