Frost tonight?

This spring really stinks....sounds like you have it even worse than us Roger! :( It's forecasted to drop to zero here but it prob. won't get that cold in my yard. Still all the plants have been pulled into the porch AGAIN and the more tropical are right into the house.

Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)

false alarm last night down to 6 in my yard and 4 at the vegetable garden. I think the wind didn't quit entirely which probably saved us but there was frost in McMurray and lots of other centres in the province

I don't think we got that cold either, no frost anyway. Some year I'm going to keep things simpler. No covering, hauling stuff in and out in June - if you can't survive you won't be in my garden.

Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)

we all make that promise in spring/summer and we all forget about when we are looking at the catalogs and starting seeds. Its like childbirth - if you really remembered, there would be no second children.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8a)

Lynn, I think I would have gone crazy back then, if there weren' two...who would entertain each other? Even though, they fought and competed with each other............I have been deadheading most of the roses I can reach, after the monstrous rains, we have had, on and off, on and off!!!!!!!OOky, squishy, muuky blooms! all part of gardening and so is Mother Nature! take care........Elaine(ramblin' rose)

FROST AGAIN??!!?? I just don't want to believe it. They better be wrong. Now that I finally have the tenders planted out. Won't be any blankets left for sleeping tonight.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

NO!! I thought I heard that you were having good weather.

The days Lizzie ....the nights are another story! :(

Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)

It's bizarre isn't it. Days in the mid 20's and still such cold cold early mornings. Its like we lived in the mountains or something. Pretty hard to become a believer in global warming in our part of the world.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Has everyone checked their forecast for tonight? (not you BC'ers) Mine's +1C. :^((((

How cold did it get at your place echoes?

I know we didn't get frost and it was +5 when we got up. +2 is the forcast for tonight. They got hail last evening a few miles from here. You're not supposed to have to worry about hail and frost on the same day. I had to whip all the covers off the morning before todays downpour so they could go back on tonight.

ROFLMBO and seriously crying @ the same time!! This year I should have left all my plants in dormancy and called it even. Canadian Farmers Almanac said we would have a cooler and wetter 2004 summer....does anyone have any idea what they are predicting for next year?????

Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)

Maybe you two are meant to build the arc and we are meant to send the critters. Seriously I feel for you. We have such a short season and work so hard - you just want to scream NOT FAIR. McMurray was down to one degree last night - must be part of the same system you are dealing with.

On a positive note I picked 2 ripe strawberries today.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Boy have you got that right! I didn't start any seeds this spring (didn't know how it was going to work with the Mom's and Dad's house, Grad., etc.) and now I am very glad! It's enough hassle with the tropicals that I already have. This is beyond anything I can remember...and you are right IT'S NOT FAIR!!
What can we grow in 6 weeks??? ;)

Radishes? Spinach.

Heard we are only supposed to go to +4 tonight so I didn't cover anything. If there is frost tomorrow AM you will hear me screaming in BC. I started dozens of varieties of seeds this year. Mostly perennials and a few hardy annuals along with a few not so hardy like Morning glories. The little perennials are OK now to take frost I think. Some that haven't been hardened off are back in the cold frame and some are still under lights. It makes for a long ritual everyday.

We just finished ours...75 plants are back in the shed, porch and house (Plumeria has a little blanket and is sitting on a hot water bottle as I type). I think they will stay there for a day or two, +30 is predicted on Tuesday. DH is complaining about his hernia.

Somebody in the warmer zones (B.C., Ont. Que.) please post your pics...at least we will know something is growing well in this country. Lynn and Starzz you already got an A+!

I'm eyeing Prozac! At least I'll have a permanent smile whilst all is dying.
