Anything??
What will this get me?
Don, I think Belotii is sterile. Look and see if you see any yellow pollen on the top thingys. I don't think there is any.
yeah,I kind of notice that,I thought because the wind blow very hard today, was the reason there wasn't much there,oh well nothing ventured nothing gained!!!
Thanks Clare
Don, pretty soon you'll have lots of flowers to cross. I think P. Lady Margaret is sterile, but how about P. Mollissima with P. Alata Ruby Glow?
Heck,I'm going to play bumble bee,and pollinate everything, got have some fruit to try this year, grocery stores don't sell any here!!!
And I want to feel a LITTLE PASSION,or a litty fruity this summer!!!LOL!
LOL! I tried P. Edulis last summer. There was really nothing to eat besides the gel-covered seeds which had a slimy texture. Maybe we'll get some banana passionfruit this summer; although, I hear Mollissima does not like warm weather and blooms in cooler weather.
Yeah I know already !First hand!!!
I just read about your P. Mollissima on the other thread, and I'm glad she perked back up. I'm sure she'll be fine:-)
Yes Clare,I do,still waiting for it to bloom for me,I'm going to cross everything possible!!!
Great! I'm looking forward to your new creations and will come begging when you create a fantastic new Passiflora!
It will be there for you!!!
Hugs:-)
Hi Don! I don't think the ants will harm the fruit, but they usually farm aphids which will so I would hose them off. Interesting! Which two did you pollinate? By the way, I've heard that the P. belotii will produce fruit which will be seedless:-(
Well this obe being the furtherest one along it has to be the belotti,I have some of the incarnata, but don't see any fruit as of yet.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you get something awesome!
I crossed it with an incarnata today too, maybe some fruit in the makings as well.
your flowers are beautiful. I have passiflora caerulea blue passion flower. It is growing but not one single flower. What do you feel them??
Right now once a week,I feed them 10-60-10 shultz bloom buster, foliage feed them early in the morning.
Hi Don, that is not one of mine. I don't have one like that. That looks like P. Lavender Lady to me. The Amethystina has big fat blue-green leaves. I just sent you cuttings of that one, not this last time but the time before that when I sent you bare, unrooted cuttings. I think I sent JD cuttings at the same time. Perhaps they got mixed up with your other cuttings?
P. Amethystina looks like this:
Thanks TMan, I'll feed them in the morning.
Oh, Don, I got confused. So it's not the picture you posted above on June 13? I thought you were posting a picture of it, but I don't have one like that. That particular one looks like P. Lavender Lady. Yes, P. Amethystina has the dark center like Blue Bonnet. The leaves will get fatter as the vine grows bigger. Can you post a picture of the flower, or did it finish?
It should look like this because this is the parent vine:
Clare, know I don't have any like that with a dark center and fat leaves, but I'm pretty sure thats the one you sent me,and yes I know it looks like lady lavender too.I'll do some more checking to see if I can find it.
Hi Don, hmmm, well, I don't have a P. Lavender Lady, except the one that you sent me, and I know I didn't take cuttings of that one because it is just a little fella. The P. Amethystina has little leaflets along the stem. I don't think the other Passifloras have them.
Check for a Passiflora which has these:
I'll have to check, don't remember seeing any of those.
Don, did you ever find out if you have Amethystina? How are the Ruby Glow, Mollissima, and Lady Margaret vines doing?
Hi Clare,
Nope never did find it,and alot of varieties have that small paddle leaf that you show in your picture.
Would you believe everyone of the flowers I have hand pollinated fell off!! No fruit!!!And I have tried incarnata on all the flowering ones too!
Yes all the vines you sent are doing great, haven't seen any sun in a week or so,but there growing.I fertilized them tonite.and the sun is suppose to shine tomorrow,so I'm expecting big growth soon!LOL!
Don, I'm glad to hear that those three are doing well. If it turns out that you don't have P. Amethystina, I'll be sure to send you a rooted cutting next time.
Thanks,
I might have a few surprises for you come fall,if my luck holds out!!!
Don, that is super sweet of you but don't worry about me for now. I have my hands full with what I've got -- unless you want to try to root me a cutting of your Beautimontia grandiflora! LOL! No, just kidding. I'm sure yours is too small yet to cut on, but next year this time, after it has put on some growth, I'll come beggin'!
Also, I forgot to mention that I know nothing about pollinating Passifloras. Did you figure out how to transfer pollen and how to successfully pollinate these?
How is your B. Pink Beauty doing? Mine is blooming like crazy! I hope yours will soon too.
I have another question about pollinating. I pollinated my incarnata with my caerulea and vice versa...not sure if those would work together (do you know?)
Since I'm nosy and impatient, I peaked into the closed flower to see if anything was in the making. AH! I broke of like 3 of them...I know, I dont learn. But in all of them after they fell off in my hand I broke them open and found itty bitty dots that looked like baby seeds. So my questions are: Does this mean my pollinating was successful? And, Are baby fruits usually this fragile?
Does anyone here have any P. mollissima or P. ruby glow cuttings available. I would gladly pay for postage.
Clare you are right about Beautimontia grandiflora. This is an awesome plant. I've had my sights on it for some time too.
BugFreak, I have the P. Mollissima and P. Alata "Ruby Glow." I can try to root them for you if you are willing to wait for them. I probably won't be able to mail anything out until the last week in August when I'm on vacation. We can do postage then if you like.
Edited to add: Let me know, and I'll start them for you.

Clare pink beauty is growing good,3ft tall, same with edquador, and it has a couple buds on it,so does the cg you sent me.
Ant,all the ones I tried to pollinate fell off, don't know what the problem was,I heard that you must pollinate them early afternoon, don't know why tho.
