I think it is a good thing!!!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Yes cindy,it is planted in the ground,as was all last summer, wintered over in doors and planted back outside once again.
Yep Root I hope so too!!!

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

Can we grow neeners here? We get pretty cold winters.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Wifes uncle lives just right next to Fort Walton beach, and he has them in his backyard,so I think you could if you have the right banana, and the winter is mild enough.

Tman,I wonder if that is what I have that comes back,I will put a pic up,and see if we can ID it.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I chickened out, couldn't leave them outside, then killed them! Sigh..... I should have listened to you boys. :) My Orinoco did just fine. The main bulbs died out on Zebrina and Basjoo but the Zebrinas are pupping. Is that normal?

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Chele,if your gonna keep them in pots, donot water them, root rot will occur,if you do just a little no more than once a month at the most, but soil needs to be pretty dry before you water, yes the pups are shooting up in trying to keep the plant from completely dying out.

Foley, AL

basjoo died? how old was it? that can grow like in canada... my oronico makes bananas ever so often. I have one can't think of its name but it peals itself and dumps the banana stuff on the ground. but you can't eat it...LOL I guess if the banana can't hold it in neither can we...

Thanks for the advice. The weird thing is that they grew great all summer. I kept them dry through the winter, think I only watered once. The main plain was sending up a center shoot and I put them in the greenhouse and started watering. That is when all the main bulbs croaked. I may have watered too much too soon. It worked okay on the brugs and orinoco. Zebrina gave me 4 babies so I am not too sad. LOL I don't know if I'll replace basjoo or not. It is the leaves on the zebrina that make me love it so. ;) Ely, you crack me up! Yes, I murdered basjoo. They were from a co-op last year. They grew great too!
