I need some information about this plant, I'm not sure if I have a Krinkle 8 here. I have never flowered it before.
The leaves look to me like a H. carnosa Krinkle 8
But the flowers are strange, 20 on this rachis , they are rather small and haven't opened yet. White on the outside with some red uneven blotching. Most have 5 points one or two only 4. It is such a baby plant only 3 leaves, hard and stiff with the 8 dimples. Any ideas at this time or am I just jumping the gun? Are the H. carnosa? Krinkle 8 flowers different than other hybrids, cultivar of this H. carnosa ? These look as if they are going to open tomorrow, but how big actually will they be when they do open. Thanks NOrma
H. Carnosa Krinkle 8 ?
Norma...your buds on your Krinkle 8 may be young...and just look small. Many times I have been fooled by tiny, then small, then not-so-large then..."OH...OK" flowers. H. carnosa 'Krinkle 8' has blossoms like H. carnosa...but a bit larger and more in an umbel...usually. They tend to be a pale pink...but this can be environmental and nurtritional as well.
The thing I really LOVE about the H. carnosa bunch is their flowers last for so very long...like the H. australis gang.
BTW - it is not unusual for an umbel to open with some 4 pointed corollas and coronas....
Thanks, I was wondering what was going on with this plant, I was surprised to see the 4 pointed corollas. I was also surprised to see the variegation before the corollas opened.
They are all open now, and holding on.
I have a H. carnosa 'Snow Ball' is it a good name? Just wondering, I got it from a friend who like to put names on plants, he hybridizes Haworthia and Gasteria, and names all the babies with weird names. Mars, Pluto, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, etc. Or after a series of cars. Norma
Yes...someone sent me H. carnosa 'Snowball' as well...supposed to be a large ball of white flowers, but it has always bloomed pink for me. No idea if it is a legal name...
I have decided to keep only a few of the H. carnosas...the ones I really like and wich are good specimins...like the solid green, 'Krinkle 8', H. fungii and H. motoskei. Almost seems like too many...will probably dis the solid green. A girl CAN have too many H. carnosas!!!
True, but not to many diamonds. Gads your spelling is as bad as mine, my fingers move too fast and get confused. LOL
