Snowbank

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

This is a not terribly good photo of Snowbank as it looked today. I had much larger and nicer leaves in the GH. After i put the pot in the ground and later saw the buds I couldn't make myself try to repot it. For being in a small pot it has a nice first flush of blooms. Donna

Thankyou all for the nice comments. i think I would probably grow Snowbank just for the foliage but it is nice to see the blooms. Donna

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

I think the above photo makes most of us remember why we're so crazy about brugs in the first place. Beauty! Great flowers! Fragrance! Aren't they great plants....

aThanks everyone for all the nice comments. I haven't gone outside yet this morning to look again, it is raining. We finally got some rain in late May and again some more. Love any rain we get. Especially right now. The new well I had drilled with new pump installed and new water line at cost of more than $14,000.00 went dry yesterday . I was only using 2 soaker hoses at half volumn so I think I just lost a lot of money that I could ill afford, so I am especially happy for any rainfall. Donna

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Oh my gosh, that is a lot of money to have a dry well. Hopefully the water will seep in quickly and you will be able to use the well again soon.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

The flowers are beautiful rutholive. I hope, mine will bloom like that.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Wow, Donna. That's a lot of money for a well that went dry. Two years ago, many homes here had their wells to go dry. We were in a terrible drought. Last year, we had monsoon weather and already this year, we're very behind on the water table. I sure hope you get more rain to help the well problem.

Mount Hermon, LA(Zone 8b)

Oh gosh! What gorgeous blooms!

My little Snowbank is pretty just for its foliage, but if I can look forward to flowers like that one day -- WOW!

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

That is just gorgeous, gives me something to look forward to. I thought Snowbank had a white bloom.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Beautiful picture Donna!

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Beautiful I don't think I every saw snowbank with so many blooms.

San Jose, CA

what a nice flush! did your snowbank drop any buds? mine has done that. dropped most of them when it was about to bloom in the fall. it's about to bloom right now. i need to take a photo soon. also my flower buds curl up like a banana in the shape of a "J". i don't have a maya or sunset to compare yet so i'm just wondering if that is the way it is.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Wow, that's just beautiful Donna! Mine doesn't seem to even be growing and yours is just spectacular! I'm sorry to hear about your well -- don't you have any recourse against the people that drilled it? Good luck getting it back on track!

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

mmqc. thanks for compliment. No luckily my Snowbank didn't drop andy buds or do anything serious. Now the bloom fluxh is finished for this time. Neither do I have a Maya or Sunset for comparison...

Gretchen when the well driller finally called me, he wouldn't stop by, his attitude was Tough, those things happen. My son is going to try to get some compensation for me. For now I am just trying to get along with the small amount of water that the well is producing. Thanks for caring. Donna.

I think your picture is wonderful and your Brug is truely a beauty.

I hope things improve with the well. We are on a well too, and I feel for you. I wish I could send some of the rainfall we have been getting your way.

Auburn, WA(Zone 8b)

Donna, Sorry to hear about the well. We had a lot of them go dry around here last summer. I was holding my breath each time I turned on the fawcett hoping something would come out. It always did.

Your Snowbank is beautiful. I got one last year via AnnaZ and it's doing well, too. No bud dropping. It doesn't like it in the sun at all, though. It has SO many leaves - just thick with them. I have a lot of Maya rooted cuttings I from last fall. Will you be coming to this side of the mountains this summer? I would be most happy to share. I also have a multitude of baby seedlings from an entire pod of seeds I got carried away & planted a month ago. Maybe you could take a few of those, also? I would think most of them will be pinks. here's the inside of the flower. i didn't really realize this before but the inside of brugs is darker than the outside??

I did not know this either, very nice pictures, what do you think of the scent?

Brown City, MI(Zone 5a)

mmqc,

Your Brug is lovely, nice pictures. I noticed how your buds curled ............. I'm just a beginner and don't know if that is unusuall, but the blossoms are beautiful.

San Jose, CA

it smells kind of like vanilla. similar to my double white.

i am thinking the curled buds are maybe from not enough water or not regular watering since i have it in a pot and it dries up quickly. well, the curled buds don't seem to do any harm. i just haven't seen that happen before with my other brugs but the buds on this one are really thin. this time only one bud dropped when it was going to open. it might have been accidently knocked off since i've been moving things around. when it was going to bloom last fall, one night almost all the buds dropped. i thought maybe it was due to a cold night or something.
