I would like to know wher I can buy one of thes trees for my garden. I live in Ohio?

Vancouver, Canada

I just purchased what looks exactly like this picture, and am wondering why the leaves are down-facing, when other photos show up-facing or cupped leaves? The folks at the nursery say the one I bought is what this is named, as the label accompanying it states. Could there be environmemtal reasons why the leaves are not "cupped?" Could it have a virus? Nothing in any info I check on the net discusses this anomoly. Help!

Mine always leaf out downward facing but as the season progresses, become more horizotal. I don't think there is anything wrong with yours. Virus would result in brown lesions or streaks in the leaves.

Thank You, Todd.
In other words, heat and light play a very important role in the position of the leaves. The label on my plant states that it is an Acer shirasawanum "Aureum." Is this one and the same as the japonicum?

Yes it is...at least as far as I know!
