Cathy do you think this might be what I just got? It has buds but no flowers yet and according to the pic on the little tag the flower should look like yours. The tag only says Datura.
I just dont know how many different varigated Datura there are.

Very pretty, Cathy. I purchased one this year but it hasn't bloomed yet.

Dravencat, I'm sure that what you have is a brug and not a datura. Sure looks that way to me.

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

Now this is going to be very interesting to see when it blooms then. You arnt the first to tell me it looks like a brug. If it is Im going to be tickled fushia. LOL. It has lots of little buds on it so hopefully soon(how long?) Ill be able to post pics to be sure.
The only thing that bothers me about this is now Im wondering if Im giving it the right care. hhmmm. I guess I need to keep a closer eye on it now.
The tag said Datura but also said angels trumpet, but I figure that was a mistake that from what I understand is quite common. Can you tell Im a newbie to these? LOL

I still find it amazing that nurserymen and garden centers don't know the difference and insist that they are the same thing and all "Angel Trumpet"

Dravencat, yours looks like a brug to me also. You will know for sure when it sets buds, datura buds point up. This is the first year I'm growing this datura, it's pretty. Have to see when it gets hot if I should move it out of the full sun. Cathy

You always grow such great datura Cathy. I think they are just so pretty.

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

Thanks Cathy, Ill keep an eye on the buds, it has several and I will post another thread to show it. Thanks for letting kinda take over.

Not to confuse you, but there are brugs whose buds will stand up at first and then lay over as they gain size. My Versicolor's buds stand straight up at first.

Dravencat, your "datura" looks more like my Peaches and Creame brug, too me...you won't be disappointed if it is because they so are beautiful.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Cathy, didn't you have a sport on one of your daturas that you were going to send to someone to tissue culture or was that someone else?

here's a pic of the bloom of the one I have...
