Hoya sp. Silver Flecked

Celaya, Mexico(Zone 10a)

Ive heard some voices out there that there might be a registered species name upcoming on this one.
Anyone know?

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Ted Green has newly listed it in his Catalogue as H. sigallatis, but there has been no publication of that name to my knowledge. In order for it to be "proper/legal" it must be published. If anyone knows if it has been published, and where, I would also like to know.

I'll keep my eyes out for the publishcation.
One of the gals wrties a journal in Sweden, so it might be there. Norma

I saw that it was now published in the last Fraterna I got so I guess it's official now.

I'm curious how quickly your's grows Panamon, and what kind of environment you have it in~I saw a picture of your's in the PDB.

The picture in PDB was from where I had received it from Carol and by now it has grown considerably, guess I'll have to post a more recent picture of it soon.
It was a slow starter but by now it growing very well. Currently it is still out on the balcony with several hours of direct sunlight hitting it and tough it was an cool and rainy year it does very well.

Celaya, Mexico(Zone 10a)

Oh BTW Carol, still waiting for your publications in Asklepios. Is it out already?

Tillamook, OR(Zone 8b)

Thank you for the info PC!

I thought this one was one of the warmer growers, what kind of temps are you talking about when you say it was cool?

Also, did the rain drench it or do you keep it out of the rain?

Oh at this time it gets down to the mid to low 40s at night and my Eriostemmas are inside now. The whole year was rather wet and only very few days in the 90s. To my surprise H. archboldiana seems to grow flower peduncles now even though it's getting rather cold. The H sigallatis is covered from the elements above so doesn't receive rain but I do keep it very well watered.

Hi All -

Asklepios is running late...the publications should be out soon in the next issue.

Long Beach, CA

All I can say is.....WOW!!
I must have the miniature variety. Ha. Mine is just newly rooted cuttings, but they are so small (maybe 2 in long) compared to this one. I have it in a tiny little pot and mist it and baby it along, but it is not showing any new growth yet. I didn't realize it likes full sun like that. Maybe I will move it to a more sunny window.
Your plants look just wonderful. I love those T-Pees you have made for them to climb up. I see you use a lot of self watering pots too. Good growing!!

Well I guess my advantage was that I got a well grown pot of it from Carol after I had won it on E-Bay last year.
Here' s the pic of it a few weeks after I had gotten it back then: http://davesgarden.com/pdb/showimage/24359/

BTW I changed the PDB Entry just now to reflect the published name. I'm trying to keep PDB up to date on the Hoya front :). While doing that I noticed that Dave now added Hybridizing info fields to the PDB so I have my work cut out again to add that info where applicable

Abbotsford, BC(Zone 8a)

Milan,

Double WOW on your plants, they are really nice looking....i was wondering, is that a compacta on the left hand side of that pic?...how long is that thing?...has it bloomed for you this year?....i am impressed......

Sandy

Celaya, Mexico(Zone 10a)

Yep it is compacta and the longest stems are about 4 feet long. It did bloom earlier in the year but oddly didn't continue through the summer like last year. I think I'll have to repot it coming spring.
Soon I'll have to get all those plants inside, that's when the fun starts :(.

Abbotsford, BC(Zone 8a)

Well you do a great job of growing it....it is huge!....that must of taken a few years to reach that size.....yes i can imagine trying to fit them all back inside....it must be like putting a very complicated puzzle back together......good luck to you...lol

Sorry about that typo. Norma
