Philodendron 'Xanadu'
Philodendron

Grows fast in summer and dies back some what in winter. Can get overwhelming.

I don't know my Philodendron well enough to tell you which one this is, but I don't believe it is Xanadu. Xanadu has a distinctive leaf shape and the leaves remain relatively small compared to some of the broad leaf types.

Perhaps someone will come along who recognizes which pretty one this is, the leaves are very attractive!

Here's a single leaf, it is about 8-10" long.

Hummm, this one was labled Xanadu at the nursury. I don't have many Phillies so I am only going by the tag. The others in the data base looked about the same so I was figuring they were right. :o)

Morning Dee -

Here's a good image from San Marcos Growers that shows how it looks planted in the ground (mine is in a big pot, so you don't really get a sense of how it looks in the landscape).

The leaves/stems are very stiff and upright, with a rigid mid-rib.

Dee, I agree with Happenstance and think it's Tree Philodendron, Cut-leaf Philodendron, Philodendron bipinnatifidum shown here: http://plantsdatabase.com/showpicture/22455/

That really sucks that they sold you a more common plant labelled as a more uncommon one. *Grrrrrr* I hope it was an honest mistake on their part. Where did you get it?

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6a)

And where can you get a Philodendron Xanadu? That is really a beautiful plant, Happenstance!

Well Mary.....here you can quite often find them in local nurseries in various sizes. I would imagine that in Ohio you probably would have to visit a retail florist to find one and they will be pricey depending on the size.

Mine is now in the ground. I repotted it this spring and the thing was growing so fast, that rather than repot again (I couldn't even get the last pot on the dolly to move it around) I stuck it in the ground.

There are some additional images in the PDB:

This image came up on the PDB helpdesk. Is the verdict in yet? If we agree it's Philodendron bipinnatifidum I'll move it to that entry. Does anyone else have an opinion to add?

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Poppy go ahead and move it. When I added it to the Data base I was going by what the nursury tag said. I am sure the ones that grow this would know. I am not oppose to your moving it....
Thanks
Dee

Okay Dee, It's moved. If we find out differently we can always move it again ;o)
