I'm sure there are many varieties of snapdragons. I bought a hanging basket of "trailing snapdragons". It made me think of the ones my grandmother used to have growing (they were not trailing). I remembered helping her gather seeds as the flowers matured.
Is there such a thing as heirloom snapdragons?
If so, I would love to get some for SASE. I'm pretty new to my home so I don't have anything for trading.
Thanx!
Sue
Looking For Heirloom Snapdragons
There are "wild" snapdragons out at our lakehouse. Not sure when we are going there next. They are yellow.
There are some heritage/heirloom varieties still available. You may want to look out for Black Prince, Picturatum, Brighton Rock (which may be the same as Picturatum).
Here's a link to Chiltern Seeds, and their Antirrhinum entires, they list some old varieties http://www.edirectory.co.uk/chilternseeds/pages/default.asp?enc=DXGenusNameXantirrhinum
Heirloom Seeds has them:

Thanks for the info! I really appreciate it!
Wow Karrie! I just checked out that heirloom seed site. What a variety and great prices too! Have you ever ordered from them?
No - but I have heard good things about them. I was going to order some heirloom tomato seeds from them, but Horseshoe supplied me with two varieties, that were sufficient for my grow space, so I didn't. Here's a link to the garden watchdog on them - looks positive.

Thanks Karrie.
I think they can be trusted! Looks like I can send my entire spring order!
Their prices are good! :)
