We finally got some other things done (fixing the roof etc) and found the time to put in 2 raised beds. This one by the barbecue patio. We used 1x12's including one in the middle as a spacer then 1x2's as a cap. We only used white pine since we have herbs close by we didn't want chemicals leeching into the edibles. I just put some exterior primer and a couple coats of latex trim paint on all exposed surfaces. I figure it will last 3-5 years. That's okay with us.
Oh yeah and I just picked up that grill for DH's birthday (I was late) He loved it.
If you saw the other threads about the sewer trenches, that's my neighbors being done now. (Sure glad ours is finished)
