A white double with velvety leaves

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

I was at the nursery, and saw a double white, with super velvety leaves. The calyx came nicely and tightly over the corolla. The trendils werent terribly long maybe 2-3 inches long. The inner skirt had a little orange/yellow on it. Anyone have any ideas?
I stopped a man, and asked what it was, and he said "a white brugmansia datura that is double" lol enough said about that.

And you left it there? Sounds lovely even without a name.

lol I know I know.. I will probably kick myself later.
I meant to say also, the 2nd skirt hadnt dropped yet, thats what made it so hard for me, well that and the fact I have never seen a double anything in person didnt help. I also dont know how long the flower had been open it did look nice and fresh tho. Lots and LOTS of buds on the thing. Mannnn maybe I should go get it. I was standing there looking at it and thinking. I wish I had my camera! lol

if not mistaken it could be Golden Lady. the one i grow has nice velvety leaves. i have not personally seen the bloom so i am guessing here. Kell or Cala should know!

Unless it was out of sight expensive, that baby would have ended up in my car.

It sounds like Candida double white to me with the velvety leaves. Sometimes the second flower skirt has trouble dropping. 'Species' has velvety leaves too.

Whew, I wish that had happened to me!!!!!! Sounds like an unbelievable find, I doubt I'd ever be that lucly here...

Most doubles I've seen have velvety leaves. CDW, Golden Lady, Knightii - those are the most velvety I can think of. Were the flowers held outright or more downward?

Not dropping the inner skirt seems to be an issue for many doubles. I don't know why, but I've seen many folks post pics of doubles (particularly GL, CDW, & Creamsickle) with the second skirts stuffed up tight. Mine have never done that, all have dropped their skirts free & clean.

My semi-long winded point is that I don't think not dropping a skirt is an indication of type (at least not necessarily in this case).

My guess is that CDW would most likely end up in cultivation as an unnamed, but reality is it could be any of them. I've never heard of CDW having any color either.

LOL, that's a lot said without really saying anything, huh?!? ;)
