Thanks Htop, on a mature plant the flowers are borne in short racemes all over the plant, and the effect is really beautiful.
It is one of those plants which should be more widely grown.

Right after I posted my comments here, while searching for a plant that I have not identified yet, I saw it in a plant reference book. It is truly magnificent when covered with blooms.
