Weird Plant of the Year

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Some of you probably already have this. Every year, I go get something "unique" for my DH - he likes that. This year I chose a "Pineapple Lily". This pic shows alot of dirt on the leaves, after that storm(s) we had, but the speckles on the base are not dirt spots - it actually looks like this. I think it's going to be pretty cool. It seems to like it's new home, although I'm pulling the bulb thingy in the fall to store in the basement over winter. It will eventually flower into a "pineapple" looking plant, which I'll post when it does. It's a really neat flower. I'm glad I chose it.

I planted some late last year, too late for them to bloom. I made the mistake of leaving them outside out of three one made it but it had a baby so now Ive got two. I cant wait to see the blooms on yours, mine is only about 2 inches high. Dont forget to post pics!!

Do you know which color you have? Eucomis comes in a wide range, including white's yellows, pinks, and purples.

Mine is the eucomis bicolor.

I think mine is white but its been a long time. I know the flowers are supposed to be white but I keep thinking they had some pink in them.

Mine is eucomis bicolor as well. According to the packaging it came in, it should be whitish, with purplish outline on the petals.
