I can never figure out this place I live in. I go to one Lowe's and they have nothing. Then I go to the one a few miles away and they have Passiflora Ruby Glow in 1gal pots, from where? I have the plant and am waiting for the most beautiful Passiflora flowers I can grow, to flower. I had to go to Carmel to get mine, and they were $5.97 here. Oh, well a road trip is fun. Does anyone but Clare also raise these pretty plants? this is the foliage so far.
Ruby Glow Passiflora
I'm growing that one Monterey. Mine also has had only foliage but I'm hoping for flowers this summer.
Did you bring it in last winter?
I wish I had. I thought it was hardy enough to withstand our winters. However, it has yet to emerge. I suspect I lost it. Havent replaced it yet.
How cold do you get there?
It dropped down into the 20s a few times. The vitafolia which was right beside came back without a problem. Looks like I lost the quadrangularis too, which doesnt surprise me. Oh well, all the others came right back. And I do have quite a few other kinds.
I just got this one at Lowes too, but it was a five gallon pot, along with Frederick (incarnata). This one does not get the one gallon pots either. Although, they did have vitifolia in one gallon pots..
I found them by accident mixed in with the fruit trees. So don't forget to look around there also.
Exactly!
Rylaff, I lost my P. Edulis and P. Quadrangularis last winter too. I just bought a new P. Quadrangularis from Logee's. I'll have to protect it this winter because I planted it in the ground. The P. Quadrangularis died the moment temperatures dropped below 45 degrees. My P. Alata did okay. Home Depot has the five-gallon Passifloras mixed in with the fruit trees too. They also have some kinds in one-gallon containers. I got my P. Alata at Home Depot in the five-gallon size. It also does not flower for me until late September and goes until November or so. Rich, you are right that this one is one of the best there is.
