wisteria question

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

can anyone tell me if a wisteria blooms on new growth or old
I am growning one and I want to cut it back this fall it hasn't bloomed as of yet just want to make sure that I don't keep it from blooming

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Wisteria need pruned in the summer..its gives the stems time to mature so buds form before spring.they bloom on the spur like growths off the main woody stems.
