How's your Plumeria growing? I've been living my idea of growing plumerias vicariously through you. Got any pictures lately? Linda
Lilypon, how's your...
It's coming along! :D I put it outside when it's warm, bring it inside before it cools off, and check it obsessively! ;) I had to look at it closely when I read that Clare in California had a tip of one of her inflo's turn black. :( Funny I thought it turning to mush would be my biggest worry... now it's the so close but yet so far buds that have me checking it often!!
That's great, I hope it grows well and blooms soon. I've been wondering about it.
I know what you mean about watching & waiting for blooms. I have a bunch of buds coming on a unknown pink brug, that have been ready to bloom for about 3 weeks, and they still haven't opened!
I've read it normally takes about a month from the start of the buds to the blooms in the Plumeria. I'm not sure if our colder temps are slowing it down or not.
I wish my Brugs were showing buds...I still haven't brought them home from work.
Please post pictures of your blooms when they open Linda!!
THE DEVIL PLANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not my sweet looking baby!!
Lilypon, we are all anxiously awaiting the "birth" of your first bloom.
Thanks weeds!! ;) I wish I could ignore it for a couple of weeks...it's painfull looking at the growth and wondering how *much* longer will it take.
Will I see/hear the moment all the way down here??? It is looking GOOD.
Hey weeds!!!!!!!!! You will!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be on the phone screaming in your ear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D
ok pam so far it doesn't look like something I'd live with; what do they look at their best.
ok I looked and found they are the same as frangipani (bad spelling) lei flowers. Don't think I would have the patience dear for the result. You are quite something.
:D .... http://plantsdatabase.com/go/54449/index.html ;) It's not only the look but the plants smell...each variety has it's own scent. Some are citrusy, some smell like gardenias, some like cotton candy, etc.
hey your up and there. so answer me this one the weather forecast is calling for a low of 2 with frost. How does that work?
The reds .... http://plantsdatabase.com/go/1142/index.html
And this link shows great pics of the plants and has links to full size trees AND places to purchase them. Phyto etc. needed for us. :( http://davesgarden.com/t/430057/Plumerias
I have no idea but I know the t.v. has been flashing it off and on all day! I have the Plumeria and some touchy Passie's outside that I'll be moving in soon. The coldest some of them can take is 6C.
ok you are just plain obsessed!!!
Bwahahahahahhahahahahahhhaaaa!!
2:00 am and ALL plants are in... :b
Pam, it's looking great! I can see the growth in it. Which colour is it going to be?
About the frost a 2*C, I think it's something to do with the dew point, but I could be full of Sh** too.
Linda
Hi Linda :)
I don't know for sure...the lady that sent them said the sticks were all put in the same bag but she thought it would either be a white or a red?!? I'm just about to go back to work and the sun is out so I'll put it back outside...hopefully the *forecasted* warmer days to come will speed up the process!!!!
Pam, did you get frost?
You should be here, record heat yesterday of 31.8C Too hot me and the brugs on the deck, they look sad and droopy by mid day, but perk up later in the evening.
I keep thinking I should get a plumeria too. I've always enjoyed them, and you growing one has me inspired.
Linda
The outskirts of the city had it...some people at work said some of their plants were pretty wilted. We did have *SUN* today tho' but nowhere near your temps. Those temps we won't be seeing for awhile, I think the lower 20's Celsius are in my 15 day forecast.
I think you would love this plant. From what I understand a mature tree can take temps down to 15F. What are your coldest winter temps? On the plus side if you do have to bring it in it does go into dormancy and can be set off to the side. I've read in a couple of Plumeria books that the authors have found it to be a very good plant for Northerners....even those of us who CAN'T leave the plant outside. ;)
I hope you have your tender plants safe tonight, environment canada has a frost warning again for Moose Jaw tonight and early Sat. morning. (Time to move west!)
THANKS :) ...I did put a few outside and I think I would have forgotten to look!! I was just thinking I didn't get much sleep last night and I should go to bed! But not just yet....WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS YEAR?? Is it El Nino or what????????
I am so tempted to MOVE WEST! We had one of the longest winters with some of coldest days, a wetter colder cloudier spring that won't end and I still have some Brugs at work that I haven't hurried to get .... Anyway thank you Linda all my babies are now in. :)
