Hi Palmbob; What a curious flower ! Are the red dots stamens ? Or is each little globe a potential plant-ling ?

I enjoy your various-stage photos of plants. Thanks.

the red dots are the wax glands of a typical Euphorbia cyathea (a 'pseudo flower, so to speak). The flower parts themselves have not shown themselves in this photo, yet, but either male or female parts will emerge from the center, between the wax glands.

Have you photos of the actual flower ? And, like the poinsetta..whch has "pseudo" flowers and bracts, does it have a milky juice ? Also..is this an ancient flower form. a somewhat underdeveloped plant ?

Thanks for your re[plies; (I'm not too good with the computer and sometimes don't fimd my way back to conversations very soon..sorry !)

here is a shot of the actual 'floral parts' but it is still not correct to call it a flower as it has non-flower parts as well (better to call it a cyathia)
