First flowers

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

The first flowers of a seedling, I had kept last year because of his nice and fluffy foliage. I knew, the flowers were part double but I have expected a bit more. The flowers are pointing upwards and are 6 inches long. The fragrance of it overwhelming but thats about all. He will be composted in the fall.

I was just thinking about you Monika!!! And even wondering when we would be lucky to see your new blooms! I still think it's pretty Monika!!! And your foliage looks so lush! LOL....unlike mine here...very wind torn! Ugh!

Too bad that skirt did not come out,I like the upward bloom,I would like to have one open to smell,so sniff it for me!

It will have a chance this summer but I dont think, that it will change my mind. I have already several hybrids with small double flowers like Baby Doll and Baby Bolero.
Brinda, several of the new seedlings have buds and all are doubles.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Monika, this brug probably is confused ... it probably thought it is a datura instead of being a brug LOL. am so happy to hear about ur other hybrids has double flowers on them. inspite of it all it is still a lovely flower. thanks for sharing.

Its a pretty little flower, and the folliage is perfect! Im excited to see more of your beautiful pictures!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I love the way it stands at attention, but here it would drown in the rains. Brinda, my brug foliage is awful looking right now, so don't feel alone.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

It looks like a big brug with a small bloom. Is balance a factor here Monika?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Liz, I was thinking the same thing! Lots of leaves for a little flower.
I love when they are fragrant. Can't wait to see more of your seedlings bloom this year.
Brugie, you should see the leaves(and flowers) on my brugs. I have shredded peach, shredded yellow, shredded pink, lol. I should have known just when they are loaded with buds and blooms, we have gale force winds!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

This is the main reason, why I dont like upward pointing flowers Shirley.
You are right Liz, the plant is out of balance.
At least, this year, the compost pile is safe from plunderers lol!

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Hehehe only because we are not there Monika! Very cool looking plant!

I can understand why you would toss it. You can only keep so many, and if they're not up to snuff, well, I guess it's goodbye to the compost.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

It is only one out of many culls, which did not come up to my expectations.
