Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

I spray miracle grow on just about everything.

Ocean Springs, MS(Zone 8b)

I recently purchased this vine also. Does anyone know if it prefers sun or shade and if it is hardy in this zone??
Thanks.

Janet, you are in the same zone as I . Last winter, mine did not even die back. Some of the leaves did get burned, but the majority of the leaves were okay. Perhaps there is a microclimate where it is buried. Miine gets full sun until late afternoon. Right now, it is full of blooms and growing like crazy.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8a)

that's the whole secret to bloom, I guess...up here I have yet to see one on mine..I love the foliage alone! Elaine

Looks great. I'm trying again this year with one I got from Logees. I hope it will get big enough to bloom for me. Great picture.

Rylaff,
Yes, I am in zone 8b, as well, I have several zone 9 tropicals that survived this past winter. I have sort of a microclimate for them myself. A south-facing garden between my house and my neighbor with a privacy fence between. We live about a block from the Gulf of Mexico. I was going to put it against the fence, where it would get some shade later in the summer, but now I wonder if I should rethink that idea.
Thanks for the advice.

We haven't planted ours yet that we bought 3 weeks ago because we are so confused- label says "bright shade". Heck, that's my kitchen!! Guess that we will take the leap and put it on a S/W fence?

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I'm excited about my pipevine too. But it only has one bloom. It's huge. It's growing slow. Here's a pic.

will grow in full sun, prefers afternoon shade. in sun must be watered more often.

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 5a)

Will not bloom til 2nd year-hardy to zone 5

Birmingham, AL(Zone 8a)

I find mine is taking a long time to get started. I planted two vines in two diff. locs last year. Are they like slow starters like clematis? Or am I maybe doing something wrong? Gets plenty sun, water, afternoon shade, zone 9. I did get about 3 flowers last year, but the vines never got beyond about 4 feet.

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

Does get off to a slow start when young. I did pinch mine back when it was fairly young so it would send out multiply offshoots. I have a couple of babies that I rooted and they are very slowly growing. Unlike momma vine that is curling everywhere and trying to take over everything.

That is gorgeous rylaff! I will pinch mine back too. I have high hopes for this year. The few flowers I did get last year were just unbelievable! I'm glad to know it will root from cuttings - I hate not having backups for favorite plants.

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

Very slow to root. Take multiple cuttings. I took about 8 cuttings and only 2 rooted.

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Florida and my place seem to have similar vegetation. Mine too are blooming now. There are a few little ones growing near the mother and they need to be pulled out. Yes, they are slow starters.
