My Iocroma are blooming like crazy bloom!
Is this an Iocroma Flush?
Well, I swan!!! That is just beautiful, what ever it is, I've never seen anything like that. Did it grow from seed???
Yep!~ It will bloom for you all summer, I love these, I think my favorite is Sunset, it is a orangey-red. The hummers were having a blast with these at the greenhouse before I left work. Mine are huge this year.
Oh Bambi...so pretty! I just love them, especially that dark purple!!! What is the plant growing to the right, with the small leaves?
I don't see the Iocroma Flush in the plant database. Please tell me about it, I'd love to have one, I've never seen one. TIA!!! SherryLike
Sherry....do a search for Iochroma
B, that is beautiful. Looks like your finally enjoying the fruits of your labor.

Thanks everyone. Brin turned me on to Iocroma last year. I wish I had gotten Sunset.... I bought mostly the purples & blues. I have it planted near a wall that's covered in grape ivy (think that's what it's called).
Oh gosh! Thats beautiful! I hope I didnt just start another "maybe I should try those for myself"!
LOL Shelly!!! I would try them but they won't make it here! And I'm so over-run with brugs to overwinter that I don't think DH will live here anymore if I add something else! LOL I hope you're enjoying them Bambi....they sure are beautiful!
Thanks, Brinda!!! I left off the 'flush' and there it was...
MaVie that so pretty dark purple.
Gosh! I really REALLY have to stop looking at this thread!!! Very pretty Mavie!
I have got to find a source for the Iochroma, I love them. Purple has always been my favorite color. Around here they call me the Purple Lady. My little pickup is custom painted lavender over silver, and my license plate is LAV LADY.

They are just beautiful...thank you for the link, brinda....I love all of the colors. How big does the plant get? and sun or shade? Is it a perineal or grown from seed annually?
I really can't answer your questions. I love them...just don't grow them! I know that Bambi grows them and so does Tracey. I would think they would be perennial in your zone, but might need a little protection. Hey Girls....where are you this morning???
Gosh Bambi, next to the pink brug it is just so pretty! That shade is too die for! I dug mine up and green binned them. They got way too big and way too floppy and uncontrollable here. Oh to have a huge yard!!
The Berkeley Horticultural Nursery had a huge tree like one growing there. Must have been 10 feet or more.
Everyones of this is so pretty! Thanks
Thanks Kell, I hope all of mine will get huge. I'm loving the purple flowers. I wonder if you can root cuttings on this. I've been treating it like a mini-brug.
I did but only after I started to bag them.
ummmmmm - those are very very very pretty and I want it! Does anyone have seed or a chance to collect them? I would gladly pay for them. I am kind of unsure of introducing cuttings into my very small collection that I have, and like to start with seed.
Karrie
Calla sent me my first and only icchroma last year. It bloomed a beautiful light lavendar this past winter in the green house... hoping it will favor me again with some blooms soon
I was told Iochroma is in the brug family. My plant came from PL at the swap so they can be rooted from cuttings.
Cindy
How big do these plants get, in height & width?
Karrie,
if you are still looking for seeds, I have seen some on ebay lately under the name "acnistus" .
Thanks - I will take a look.
They are all soooooo purrrrrrrrty! I wonder if anyone is bringing any for trades at the Florida/Alabama swap???
;) Donna
