the brug bust

Covington, LA(Zone 8b)

Here in the greater New Orleans area we had angel's trumpets on the news last night. A few highschool boys took brug flowers, boiled them, mixed the boiled water with koolaide----and drank it down. Real smarties!
They were all hospitalized. 3 were unconscious. The boy interviewed said that his heart raced, breathing was shallow, sweating, blurred vision, and horrible hallucinations. He said one of the boys was chewing his arm because he thought it was a poboy--even tried to get others to take a bite.
AND--here's the really bad part--he and a policeman went all over the neighborhood pulling up dats and brugs in peoples yards!!!!!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Wow, I can't believe they could go in peoples yards and pull up their plants. Thge boys should have been punished, not the plants.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Oh my gosh wow that real happen it suprised me. Terrible what the boys doing like this. What is wrong with that boys to try that now they get hurt themselves oh boy so stupid.

Holy cow, not without a court order on my property. and then of course there would be an ensuing lawsuit for trespassing, criminal mischief etc.
did they do that on their own or did some overstep their bounds and give a directive?

Covington, LA(Zone 8b)

I don't know if the policeman had permission to go on peoples property. The boy who was interviewed on tv made that comment about what he and the policeman had done. I bet there were some UPSET people!

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Boy that something else. Does it will do that again on news tonite? So what channel did you saw on news last night?

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

My property is fenced and I keep my driveway gate closed. If someone came on to my property uninvited, for the purpose of criminal mischief, and got hurt doing it, I'd be [deleted] if I'd allow the sheriff's department access to whatever the perp got hurt on! That's unbelievable. While they're at it in N.O., they might as well remove all tomato, rhubarb, etc. plants that are poisonous when mis-used! UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Covington, LA(Zone 8b)

I saw this on a New Orleans channel-WGNO.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

OH my... I hope they WILL NOT go on each homes around Louisiana to pull the brugs, Daturas off from people's property!

I hope those boys learned their lesson after they drank those!

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

wow. Some kids will do anything. And yes, I hope they learned their lesson as well. I remember, about 30 some odd years ago, when I was about 10-11. We went out to smoke some grass. Now wait till you here the story, it's funny. We didn't know anything about this, so we went to the field, and found some nice long grass. The brown dried kind with a bit of a seed on top and hollow. We cut off the seeds, and picture me holding my arm out at full length trying to reach the end of the grass to light it, while the other end was in my mouth. It must have been about 2 feet long! I sucked in and all I got was the taste of the sulfer from the match. I couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about smoking grass! I have told this story many times, and I always laugh. Just goes to show that a little bit of knowledge can be dangerous.
