I am a first time brug grower, and I'm thrilled to say I have a least 10 blooms opening on my yellow brug right now-with at least another 50 blooms in the waiting. I noticed when I was in the garden a moment ago that some of the larger leaves had holes in them-I can see nothing anywhere on the plant that could have made them, but I'm sure it's there and just sneaky. I use Liquid Sevin on most of my garden for all the variety of bugs we have in TN. Is there any reason I couldn't use it on this brug? I really hate to buy something for just one plant, but I will if need be. I'm checking my brug about every 4 hours to watch those blooms grow - it is truly unbelievable. I don't know the name of my brug- it was just sold as a yellow brug. I don't have a digital camera or I would post it and let you all tell me what it is. I am going to take a picture with a regular camera when more blooms open, and I'll try to scan it in to the site.
Using Liquid Sevin
I'll bet your brug is pretty. Sometimes caterpillars will eat holes in the leaves or at night slugs can come up an munch away. I don't think Sevin will work for them, but could be wrong. Never hurts to try anyway. Hope you find what is doing it. My leaves have holes in them right now, but not from critters....just lots of heavy winds. We are lucky that new leaves grow quickly. Good luck with the Sevin and WELCOME to the brug forum. Jump right in any time.
Earwigs eat at night too.
